I love the 3-Level CD set for Rosetta Stone that we splurged and bought one year ago. However, I was hugely dismayed to see that the company has removed the online 3-month or 6-month learning options (which were less expensive than the CDs but could be used by only one person) and has replaced them with TOTALE, which looks great but costs OVER ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS PER LANGUAGE.

I cannot afford this.

Judy, if you can hold out a little longer I've got a Wii to sell to you! :) I should have added the library to the list. We actually have one down the street and don't utilize it nearly enough for books and videos.

LotoboME, good for you for selling your stuff on eBay! We have had similar success with Craigslist, and we will be writing more about that in a future post. Or maybe not, since yours was so good!

Great tips! We too have made some small (and big) changes that have added up to lots of debt payoff, lots of saving & more money for traveling. I just finished selling over $15,000 worth of stuff on ebay over the last 9 months to pay off my school loans -

What a helpful post, Betsy, regardless of whether one is trying to save for a trip around the world (sighs, with not a little envy).

Each one is a small accomplishment, but together, wow. Almost life-changing.

Your tips are great. Didn't even know that under 10,000 miles qualifies for "recreational vehicle" insurance! Is that still true if you use your car occasionally to drive to business meetings?

Love the no/limited make-up thing. Working from home, I do that, too.

We read a lot and check out most books from the library. My only splurge is my New Yorker Magazine, but that's just $25 for a year, with a new issue every week.

Now I want to get a Wii!

Thanks, Betsy. Going to Rt this on Twtter!
