Hi Priscilla, it is wonderful to hear from you and welcome to the site. Sounds like you all are in the midst of a wonderful adventure, made all to more exciting with a young one along for the ride. Portugal is one place Betsy is dying to visit and we hope to get there later this year. We'd love to hear what you think and learn from your 3 months there.

Have a wonderful trip and we look forward to engaging more with you here or on Facebook.

This is the first time I have come across your site. I love this post. I have gone through all the changes you mentioned. Myself and my husband quit our jobs and sold everything to travel for 6 months around the world. I wish I read your post sooner. Maybe we would have actioned sooner! We now have a 1 year old which makes travelling a little more complicated! We have spent 2 months in the USA and tomorrow head to Portugal for 3 months. Anyway, great site! I will be back.

Hi Elizabeth,
We still live in the RV most of the time. We figure we have another two to three years until we complete our exploration of the U.S. and Canada. The RV will be our primary home during that time. However, we've found that most of the country is too cold during the winter so we plan to spend the winter months backpacking in warmer weather destinations. Right now we're in Central America for two months. Next year, maybe Asia.

A 40 liter backpack has about 1.5 cubic feet of storage capacity. So imagine a box with a height, depth, and width of 18 inches (47 cm). Theoretically each of our backpacks hold only as much as you can fit in that box.

Cheers,
Brian

Nice to hear from you. Yes, we think a solar panel is a wonderful thing, however, you know...the "norm" out there doesn't always agree. You would have laughed a couple of years ago when Jim bought me a sleeping bag for my birthday...even good friends thought it was a horrible gift. What they didn't know was that I get a bit claustrophobic w/ my feet contained and this bag has a special foot zipper at the bottom so I can slip my toes out at night. That is why I love him so much, he got me something that was incredibly touching to me, regardless of the well meaning advice from those around us! Another perfect gift:)

Great post Betsy. I loved the refocusing. I especially like the last link to help us reconnect with our vision - such a great summary of the need to value life truly, none of us get out of this journey alive, best to live it now!
