Can you smell the love in the air? For some people, the scent of romance might be warm cookies or roses or the salty air of the beach.
But for us, love and romance smells like a train station! (Well, at least the parts that don’t smell like urine.)
The coffee stands on the platform tempting us with a last jolt of caffeine before boarding…
The smell of newsprint at the magazine stands…
The industrial smell of trains as they chug into and out of the station, taking people all over the world…
What better way to celebrate the release of our fourth book, Married with Luggage: What We Learned About Love by Traveling the World, than by touring the most romantic cities in Europe by train?
Our International Love Affair book tour is sponsored by Eurail.com, the same fabulous company offering the pair of First-Class Global Eurail passes to see Europe by train to some lucky winner on May 15 (you are registered to win, right?).
We leave on May 14 from sunny Spain and will travel through Italy, Austria, Slovenia, Germany, Belgium, and France for six weeks by train. There will be cities, villages, vineyards, rivers, castles, and every other romantic thing you can think of. Check out the map and itinerary here.
What you’ll learn in every single stop on the tour:
- A specific romantic story from each city plus the lesson we can all take from it.
- The romantic highlights from each city (some of these we can’t even believe…including one that costs 25 Euros per hour…)
- The best food and drink to fuel your romantic escapades
- The best place to stay in each location
- And of course, highlights from the train journey as we go from place to place
We have the support of the tourism boards in each city, which means in many cases we’ll have behind-the-scenes access most tourists won’t get to see. Because you’re virtually traveling with us, you’ll get behind the red velvet rope, too.
It’s going to be an incredible trip, and we’re excited to showcase a variety of love stories to along with our own so you can take a swoon-worthy mini-vacation every week from your laptop or smartphone.
How to Follow Along
First, check out the details here. Then every week for the next 6-8 weeks we’ll showcase highlights from the journey on this website, in our behind-the-scenes Sunday email, and in the weekly podcast. In addition, we’ll be writing about it on a few big-name sites along the way, and we’ll let you know when that happens.
The only way to NOT miss any delicious moment is to sign up for our email list, where we’ll give you links and photos every week to all the action. If you’re not already on it, you can sign up here.
It’s going to be a fantastic trip, and we’re so glad you’re virtually traveling with us for the next six weeks.
All aboard for love and adventure!
