Take the first step: Jump from a plane

Taking the first step towards a dream can be terrifying, overwhelming, and exhilarating. I always knew this, but as I stood at the door of the airplane this weekend looking out at 13,000 feet of empty air between me and the ground the importance of this point was crystallized. Reflecting on my first sky dive I am amazed I was able to overcome my fear of heights to make this a reality, but delighted that I saw it through.

Sky diving is not something I truly ever expected to do but since the moment we made that first step on our lifestyle design to travel the world my dreams and goals have changed dramatically. I am now open to all possibilities and undeterred by obstacles either real or in my mind.

Whether you are jumping from an airplane, charting a new course in life, or saving for a dream adventure you must start with a first step. Sometimes they are small: cut out the daily latte. And sometimes they involve traveling at 120 MPH as the wind whips by you and you are screaming at the top of your lungs. Either way, that first step is required to experience the fun and excitement that is to come from your chosen path in life.

When will you take your first step? Where will that path lead you? What is stopping you from taking that step?

For those that are interested in seeing more of the experience, I have posted photos here for your viewing pleasure (and so you can see how much fun I had).

  3. Betsy-
Is it my imagination or is your husband increasing in “hotness” since you’ve been working toward your goal? Ha!!

  4. Warren says:

Karen & Debb - thank you both for your kind words and generous support. Your support through the last 2 years has been invaluable to the process.

Angela, I refuse to argue with you at all on this point;)

  5. Angela, I told him when he got in his jumpsuit that he looked like Maverick. At which point the man next to me asked if I meant James Garner or Top Gun. Now really, do I look like I’m old enough to be hot for James Garner? :)

I think this new lifestyle is agreeing with Warren very much.
