Last night we met with over 100 travelers in Seattle to swap stories, share dreams, and enjoy each other’s company. It was an amazing night for us, and we are still jazzed almost 24 hours later from the energy of the crowd.
Check out the video below to see our reaction (and to check out my new hairdo - I look like Warren, Jr.!).

Dear Betsy and Warren,
I can’t believe it’s just 1/2 month away. It seems like just a few days ago I found your blog and read all the entries from the beginning. In reality it was two months ago.
Thank you for sharing your experience here. I’ll be following along via your blog entries and videos and whenever thinking of you sending good thoughts and wishes.
Daena
Daena, if YOU think time is flying by, you can imagine how we’re feeling! Somehow after we got below 100 days it just seemed to go faster. Or maybe it was because our house was sold and most of our possessions were gone. At any rate, I’m really hoping time slows down once we go on our trip so we can savor it more.
Thank you for following along and sharing your comments. It is the interaction with readers that we love the most, so please keep joining in the conversation.
My goodness, Betsy, you are absolutely glowing! I love the hair. I’ve been wanting to shave my head for several years, but my daughters are a bit freaked by the idea. Maybe sooner rather than later…
Anne, my dad has been gray since he was 18, but at one point in my childhood he used Grecian Formula to go back to his black hair. As kids, we were totally freaked out by the idea of this black-headed man at the dinner table, so he stopped using it and went back to gray. I can see where your girls might be a little freaked out by mom changing so much. You’ll have to let us know what you decide to do.
Gosh, just two weeks to go!
You have been discovering some great ways to meet with new people (this post and a previous one where you both are taking some time to slow down and “be” with people you meet as you go about your daily business).
Remember, you may not always know the language in the country you visit but your smiles (and they are great ones) will take you far.
Thanks for sharing (oh yeah, love the hair on both of you!).
Thanks, JLouise. I am loving this new ‘do much more than I thought I would. It certainly is easy!
Awesome! You guys are buzzing with aliveness!
Love the hair.
Betsy and Warren,
I bet you have no trouble at all bridging the communicaton gap with foreign tongues…I just bet. We communicate so much with our eyes and hands and through gestures, that it will work itself out even in the tricky moments.
I recall years ago living in San Francisco, I picked up my roommate from the train station and we offered a lift to a young Spanish traveler, to the hostel. We arrived to find it closed. We offered her a place to stay for the night. She was nervous but accepted. And we spent a fabulous and exhausting evening using a map to determine where she’d come from and wher she was going. Our Spanish was limited, and her English was as well. The point is we managed and made a friend.
What a grand adventure you are off to in 11 days. You may be traveling light but a lot of people are going in that endless heart compartment in your luggage!
Thanks for sharing fabulous post. There are so many culture and traditions in the world to explore and meet new people from different parts of the world. It creates a clear mutual understanding of different travelers around the world to share their ideas and dreams for travel.
