Married with Luggage is sometimes Married with Baggage as we bring the weight from our past into the arguments of the present.
Even the positive stress of frequent travel and change for this International Love Affair book tour brings out some of our worst tendencies, and if we don’t keep them in check and follow the rules we worked so hard to learn in the last four years of wandering the world, things go downhill fast.
And last week we resorted to the least satisfying kind of conflict resolution:
The Whisper Fight.
Spouting your best insults under your breath as you try to look like a respectable person in public is unfulfilling, to say the least. And damn the Germans and Austrians on our train for being so fluent in English that they perfectly understood from the outside what we couldn’t seem to understand from the inside.
But as always, we tried to learn the lesson from this. This is some next-level communication stuff for us, an important enhancement to the strong foundation we’ve built over the last few years, and we think you might relate. (Can’t see the video? Click here.)
